Custom Platforms and Software Development

If you need something built, you are choosing between an agency, a freelancer, a no code tool and hiring someone permanently, whether or not you have said so out loud. Each of those has a place. This is the option where one experienced person handles the whole thing, end to end, for a fixed price, and you own what gets built.

Who this is for

01Founders who need a product built properly rather than prototyped
02Businesses whose existing systems do not talk to each other and need something connecting them
03Teams without an internal technical lead who need one person accountable for delivery
04Anyone who has outgrown a no code tool and needs something built to last
05Businesses comparing an agency quote and want a fixed price, single point of contact alternative

What is included

Requirements and specification, so you approve the scope before anything is built
Architecture and system design
Build, in visible increments with regular check ins
Integration with the systems you already run
Deployment and rollout
Documentation and a handover you can act on
Post launch support, ad hoc or on retainer

How it works

Every project follows the same five stages: discovery, specification, build, rollout and support. You approve the scope and the fixed price before any build work starts, and you are kept in the loop with regular check ins rather than a long silence followed by a reveal.

Common questions

Answered in the first two sentences, then elaborated. Hedged answers do not get cited and do not build trust with a buyer who has already read five other pages on the subject.

What does a custom platform cost?

Projects start at $12,000, scoped to the work: the number is driven by how many workflows have to change, not by a day rate. You get a fixed price quote after a systems review or a scoping conversation, before any build work starts.

How long does it take?

Most projects run three weeks to four months. A single focused tool is closer to the three week end; something replacing several disconnected systems at once is closer to four months.

What happens if you are unavailable?

You own the code, the infrastructure access and the documentation, so another developer can pick the project up without starting over. Documentation is kept current as the project goes, specifically so that is true in practice and not just on paper.

Who owns the code?

You do, in full, from the day it is delivered. That includes source code, infrastructure configuration and any custom modules built for you. There is no licence, retained ownership or lock in on my side.

How is this faster than an agency?

There is no handoff between a salesperson, a project manager, a designer and a developer, and no time lost to status meetings between them. The person who scopes the work is the person who builds it, which removes most of the translation loss that slows agency delivery down.

When should I use an off the shelf product instead?

When an existing tool already does what you need, building something custom is the wrong call. Custom development starts to make sense once you have outgrown what an off the shelf product can do, or your workflow is specific enough that nothing existing fits it well.

Not sure this is the right fit for your business?

That is what the review is for. You get a written recommendation, including the recommendation not to do it.
